OXFORD, Miss - Recently, The Oxford food pantry announced that they are in dire need of volunteers.

Since Covid-19 has started, more Oxford community members have become in need of The Oxford Food Pantry and their services.

There has been an estimated 30% increase in clients just this fall.

Due to this drastic rise, the Oxford Food Pantry has been asking for volunteers both from students and Oxford community members.

“Volunteering is such a rewarding experience,” Ole Miss student Kate Suddeth said. “I really enjoy meeting the different people, you strike up different conversations here and there with older folks apart from the church helping the pantry and even peers my age I never would have met if it wasn’t for the pantry.”

The Oxford Food Pantry is open for students and Oxford community members to come volunteer every Wednesday and Thursday morning.

They will be need in even more need of volunteers as the holiday season approaches.

“I would say whether you're volunteering for your organization or just trying to help out your community, everything is a great way to meet people and understand you don’t need to just volunteer for service hours, it really makes you a more well rounded person,” volunteer Emily Reed said.
